Master's Level Clinical Internship Opportunities

​Valor Horses for Heroes offers immersive internship opportunities for master's-level counseling and social work students who are passionate about specializing in trauma-informed mental health care. Interns receive hands-on clinical experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, military service members, veterans, first responders, and other individuals impacted by trauma under the supervision of experienced, trauma-focused clinicians. Training emphasizes evidence-based approaches including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed therapy, Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAGALA Model), play therapy, and experiential interventions. Interns participate in individual and group supervision, case consultation, treatment planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration while developing competency in trauma assessment, nervous system-informed care, and ethical clinical practice. Designed for students seeking advanced training beyond traditional outpatient settings, Valor's internship program provides a supportive learning environment where future therapists can build confidence, clinical excellence, and specialized skills in treating complex trauma while integrating innovative experiential therapies into their practice.
