Melissa Corforte

LCMHCA, NCC

Melissa is an accomplished mental health clinician with a diverse and multidisciplinary educational background. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Rutgers University, a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Training & Development from Seton Hall University, and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health and Military Veterans Counseling from the College of William and Mary.

Melissa provides individual and group therapy using evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to address a range of mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, and trauma-related disorders. Trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), she supports clients in processing and healing from past trauma. Her work is deeply informed by extensive experience with active-duty service members and veterans, bringing a strong trauma-focused perspective to her clinical practice.

She also specializes in marital and relationship counseling, guiding couples in improving communication, resolving conflict, and strengthening their connection through structured, evidence-based approaches. In addition, she is a certified provider in crisis intervention and suicide prevention, utilizing Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) to assess and manage acute risk in individuals experiencing suicidal ideation or behaviors

Melissa completed her clinical internship with Valor in 2024 and returned as a staff clinician in 2025. She is dedicated to helping individuals and couples cultivate peace and meaningful connection in their lives and relationships. With a focus on trauma-informed care, couples therapy, and holistic healing, Melissa brings compassion, insight, and an integrative approach to her clinical work.
